Dr. Ruby's Bio

I earned my Doctor of Psychology degree from Rutgers University, Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP).  My training included psychoeducational assessment, differential diagnosis, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for a variety of psychological disorders. As a Certified School Psychologist for over 10 years, I have experience at both the elementary and secondary levels.  My background includes initial identification and evaluation of children and adults with suspected learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), cognitive disabilities, executive functioning deficits, and emotional disorders. Additionally, I have experience providing psychoeducational evaluations for students requesting accommodations at post-secondary settings, such as for college or standardized exams (e.g., PSAT, SAT).  While a member of the Rutgers Disabilities Committee, I reviewed applications and documentation from university students requesting academic modifications and accommodations. This unique "first-hand" experience, in conjunction with my extensive training and experience, enables me to tailor individualized assessments necessary to advocate for appropriate educational accommodations and modifications for students with a variety of needs. I generate recommendations to guide development of evidence-based, executive academic instruction strategies.

During my extensive experience on Child Study Teams for more than 10 years, I collaborated with parents, teachers, and administrators to support academic progress. I very much enjoy assessing and advocating for individuals with learning or emotional differences to maximize achievement and overall life satisfaction.
